The Pride Advocacy Training model uses feminist principles of movement building – on how to organise a community pride. The training manual has been designed for use by LGBTI activists and allies who are interested in organising pride events in their communities to raise awareness of the challenges faced by, and create visibility of, LGBTIQA+ people living in their communities. This training provides young activists with tools on how to organise and implement a pride event that is political and educational with support of other civil society organisations working to end discrimination against all marginalised groups, such as women, youth and including LGBTIQA+ people, in and around their communities.
During the interactive and informative workshop, participants will have the opportunity to:
1. Gain In-Depth Knowledge on how to organise a community pride: Acquire a comprehensive understanding of the challenges faced by the LGBTIQA+ community and the importance of organising a community pride in advancing their rights and well-being.
2. Learn Effective Advocacy Strategies: Explore various advocacy strategies and techniques that can be used to promote inclusivity, challenge discrimination, and create positive change within communities and institutions.
3. Enhance Communication Skills: Develop effective communication skills to engage in constructive conversations, address misconceptions and biases, and foster understanding and acceptance of LGBTQ+ individuals.
4. Access Resources and Tools: Receive relevant resources, toolkits, and references that will assist you in furthering your advocacy efforts and staying updated on LGBTQ+ issues and initiatives.
