
Engaging the Criminal Justice System was a township-based training program that focuses on ground mobilisation of lesbian women in understanding their human rights, the law and how the justice system works. The CJS training modules included CJS processes, case monitoring, court monitoring and their human rights.The purpose of the conference was to be able to engage with the Criminal Justice System. Those trained in the CJS engage with the key stakeholders to provide collective solutions that could be implemented throughout the country. The aim is to bring forth challenges faced by LGBTIQA+ persons as the result of failure of CJS, to reflect on the challenges faced by the LGBTIQA+ persons as the result of the failed CJS but also to seek answers from government about the failure T he outcomes of trainings is to develop a monitoring mechanisms for all Provinces and to ensure that the LGBTIQ+ persons are granted human rights in the CJS system with the aim od to case monitoring and timely conviction of cases.
